"A puppy is but a dog, plus high spirits, and minus common sense"

Agnes Repplier

Socialising your puppy in its first six months plays a critical role in the development and training of a confident, friendly and outgoing puppy who will respond positively to humans and dogs alike.

Puppies are naturally curious and playful about the world they live in. It is the perfect time in their lives to introduce them to some basic training and expose them to new experiences and other dogs.

Remember that the things that seem adorable when your dog is a puppy - like jumping up, pulling or play biting - can become serious issues if you don't nip them in the bud. Classes are great fun for both the dogs and the humans alike. And many people find great dog walking buddies too!

Puppy not vaccinated yet? Don't miss out on giving your puppy an early opportunity to pick up life skills. Book a pre-vaccination home visit with me.

Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Level

Cardiff Canine Citizens is a Kennel Club Listed Status Club, offering The Kennel Club Puppy Foundation Course for puppies over twelve weeks and usually up to six months of age.

The course comprises an ongoing assessment charted in a booklet which is awarded to the owner along with a Certificate and rosette upon successful completion of the course. Correct socialisation is a major part of this course along with introducing basic training. Children welcome. More about the Kennel Club's Puppy Foundation Level (PDF).

What do I need?

For the first puppy class you will need your puppy; try to 'empty' puppy prior to classes by allowing puppy ample toileting opportunities. It may also be advisable either to only feed a small meal several hours before or not to feed your puppy just before attending class, as all of our training is reward based and is less likely to work for treats if it's already full!

You will need a well fitting collar (no check/choke chains please) or harness and an ordinary lead (rather than an extending lead) and your pups vaccination certificate. Puppy must have had all of its vaccinations and be permitted to be walked in public. Finally your payment for the full course, either cash or cheque. Cheques are payable to Cardiff Canine Citizens
